Trinidad was the beloved wife of Richard V. Martínez (deceased), mother of 12, grandmother of 42, great-grandmother of 92 and great-great-grandmother of 13. Ms. Martínez worked for the Mt. Pleasant Elementary School District for over 20 years as a Instructional Aide, a job she loved, as she loved working with young people. She was also the first woman to join the Musician’s Union in the late 1940’s.
Ms. Martínez was born in Torrance, California and come to San Jose in the early 1940’s, where she would perform with her father, Augustine Delagrande and his orquestra and where she met her husband of 66 years, Richard. She moved with her husband to Sacramento in 2001, where they both remained active in the American GI Forum, until their health made it difficult to continue the community activism.
