On Tuesday, February 25, 2020, at the age of 96, Phillip departed this life to be reunited with the love of his life, Eleanor, his devoted wife of 49 years who passed away in 1997.
Born and raised in California, Phillip honorably served this country in the Army during World War II. After being honorably discharged from the military, Phillip married Eleanor Ramirez. Phillip and Eleanor were married in 1948 and were blessed with seven strong, healthy children. As devoted Catholics, they attended mass at Holy Cross Parish regularly and relied on their faith to guide them as they raised their five girls and two boys.
As a father of seven, Phillip devoted 37 years to the Del Monte Corporation as a Machine Operator to provide for his family. His career provided a comfortable life and a loving home for them in Little Portugal, San Jose.
Phillip enjoyed a long, full, healthy life with his wife and family and enjoyed attending family get together. Once he became a widower, he lived independently until his early 90’s enjoying gardening, reading, playing pool, playing cards and enjoying visits from his children and grandchildren.
Phillip lived his life with grace, dignity and distinction. He was deeply respected by his community, family and friends. His absence will always be felt but his legacy will live on through his family and the wonderful memories he leaves behind.
Phillip was surrounded by the loving presence of family at the time of his passing and leaves behind six children, 12 Grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
