It is with deep sadness to announce the passing of Michael Roy Schrag. Michael was born on May 20,1955 to Fred Charles and Nancy Ann Schrag in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Michael received his Bachelor’s in Engineering from California State University, Northridge in 1977 and his Masters in Engineering Mechanics from Santa Clara University in 1986.
Michael worked for General Electric Company (GE) for nearly 39 years, which gave him the opportunities to frequently travel during his earlier career. Over the years, Michael held many technical leadership roles at GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy, including Project Manager, Engineering Manager and Facility Manager. His last position was Senior Facility Manager for the Vallecitos Nuclear Center.
Michael is survived by his wife Irene of 35 years, his children Dan and Patty, Darlene, Chris & Desire, J-R, 7 grandchildren and one more on the way, his mother Nancy, his brothers Fred and John, his sister Bernie and multiple nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father Fred and brothers Robert and Pete.
Michael was a devoted husband and family man. During his children’s younger years, he coached their baseball, basketball, and volleyball teams. He also enjoyed being at their swimming, gymnastics, and Tae Kwon Do classes. In recent years, along with his youngest son, Michael became an avid Pokémon GO player.
Michael as a very generous man who helped underprivileged individuals in the Philippines. He was also a volunteer at Santa Teresa Catholic Church. He was involved in organizing the Parishioner’s Festival, at times held a 6:30am mass at the Chapel, and other responsibilities where he was needed most.
Michael will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
