Maria Eugenia Morgado passed away peacefully at her home on September 14, 2020, surrounded by her children and grandchildren.
Maria was born on September 17, 1935 in Vila Nova de Tazem, Portugal to Alberto Joaquim and Maria do Carmo Ferreira. She was the third of 4 daughters.
In 1944, at the age of 9, Maria and her brave mother traveled by ship to the United States during WWII, where they eventually settled in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. After living several years in Rhode Island, they decided to move to California in search of better opportunities.
Upon arriving in San Jose in the early 1950’s Maria worked in several canneries and eventually became one of the most talented glass blowers at ITT Jennings.
In 1962 she married the love of her life, Manuel Morgado, and they began their family which eventually grew to include 4 children, 9 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren.
Manuel and Maria built their dream home in the foothills of San Jose which was always filled with love, laughter and many celebrations. They were both active in the Portuguese community and enjoyed attending church together.
Maria was an exceptional and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, who put her family and God before anything else. She will remain forever in our hearts and will be tremendously missed by those who knew her and loved her.
