Marguerite Rosati

November 23, 1921 – September 9, 2021

Resident of San Jose

It is with great sorrow that the family of Marguerite “Marge” Rosati announces her passing in the early morning of September 9, 2021.  Preceded in death by her loving husband, Ernest “Ernie” Rosati.  Loving mother of Denise Rosati and Paul Rosati.  Loving grandmother of Danielle (Bill) Wells.  Great grandmother to Matthew and Luke Wells.  Beloved sister of Lee (Eva) Ceccotti of Larkspur who predeceased her.  Aunt to Richard (Mimi) Bini.  Aunt to Eugene Ceccotti of San Rafael and Leanne Ceccotti of Larkspur.

Born in Franklin, Kansas, Marge’s family relocated to San Francisco during her early years.  She graduated from Galileo High School and started her long hard working career in the sales department of The Emporium in San Francisco.

After the war, she fell in love with a sailor, Ernie, and they married in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.  Marge and Ernie relocated to San Jose where he was born.  Marge was the back office bookkeeper and front store sales manager for many years for Ernie’s O’Connor Center Pharmacy across the street from O’Connor Hospital.

When the pharmacy closed, Marge accepted a position as staffing clerk with O’Connor Hospital.  We recently heard from her supervisor at the time that the first thing Marge would do when she came to work was to disinfect all the phones in her area.  Somehow that did not surprise us.

During her younger years Marge was active with bridge club, hobbies like pottery and gardening, golf and cooking.  Every year she would cook the family Thanksgiving dinner to perfection.  She lived many happy years in retirement in her own house according to her wishes.  She was the ultimate homebody and pretty independent up until the fall that broke her hip.

Our family appreciates the caregivers which assisted Marge at home, including Elizabeth and later Esther from Family Matters.  After her fall, Marge relocated to a very lovely board and care home through San Jose Senior Care Homes and we appreciate the care and support from Irish and her caregivers John, Clarissa and Ara.

Due to the highly contagious COVID variants, there will only be an opportunity to view the deceased and pay final respects at Darling and Fischer Mortuary, 471 E. Santa Clara Street in San Jose on Tuesday, September 21 from 4PM to 8PM.  All are invited and please wear your masks.  Note that the immediate family will not be present.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the charity of your choice.
