Manuel Ribeiro, 95 of San Jose, California, husband of the late Maria Rosa (Carvalho) Ribeiro died on Saturday afternoon, January 14, 2023, at Regional Medical Center, surrounded by family members. Mr. Ribeiro was born in Cunha Baixa, Portugal, December 19, 1927, a son of the late Jose and Maria (Da Encarnação) Ribeiro. He immigrated to Brazil in the 1950’s and then to Danbury, Connecticut, United States in 1965, where he worked as a laborer. In 1977 he moved to San Jose, California with this family where he has resided ever since. He is survived by his son, George Ribeiro and his wife, Amanda; his daughter, Christina Tindall and her husband, Wayne; one brother, Armindo Ribeiro; one sister, Emilia Marques; five grandchildren, Gina Ribeiro, Lucas Tindall, Shelby Tindall, Cassandra Ribeiro, and Gabriel Ribeiro; three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Maria Ribeiro Lopes, Antonio Ribeiro Almeida, Rosa Ribeiro Coelho and Ilidio Ribeiro. Manuel was well known for his love of gardening, pruning trees, fixing any and everything broken, and going out of his way to help family and friends.
A visitation for Manuel will be held on Thursday, January 19th from 3:00PM to 6:30PM at the Darling & Fischer Garden Chapel, 471 E. Santa Clara St., San Jose, CA 95112. A Rosary Mass to occur Thursday, January 19th at 7:00PM, Five Wounds Portuguese Church, 1375 E. Santa Clara St., San Jose, CA 95116.
Graveside service will be held on Friday, January 20th at 12:30PM at the Santa Clara Mission Cemetery, St. Joseph Mausoleum, 490 Lincoln St., Santa Clara, CA 95050. Reception following services at Centro Leonino da California - Portuguese Sports Club, 1304 E. Julian St., San Jose, CA 95116.
