Lorenzo Guico de Venecia passed away peacefully on April 16, 2019 surrounded by the love of his children and grandchildren at Regional Medical Center in San Jose California at the age of 93.
Lorenzo was born on August 10, 1925 in the Philippines. He shared 65 wonderful years with his wife Adela, who passed away in 2018.
He is survived by his loving and darling daughters Wilma (Peter) Domasig and Delia (Norberto) Castanos; his 7 grandchildren: Maria Vanessa (Rey), Nelson (Josefina), Liza Jean(John), Patrick (Jasmine), Patrice (Hugo), Pia Marie (John), and Normand, who adored and admired their Lolo; and his 4 great grandchildren: Angelica, Sofia, Jacob, and Nolen Son.
Lorenzo is predeceased by his parents, Juan and Romana, and his siblings Feliza, Susana, Isabel, and Lolita.
Lorenzo was a veteran of WWII and served under the command of the USAFFE (United States Armed Forces in the Far East), within the Philippine Army. He was an avid ballroom dancer and passionate about supporting the Filipino community in San Jose, as well as a member of various Senior Citizen and Veteran associations. He had a zest for life, was very fashionable, had an appetite for Filipino cuisine, and had a great sense of humor. He loved being surrounded by and spending time with his family, whether they were visiting from Canada or spending time in Canada with his wife.
His family would like to thank all his relatives in San Jose for their love and support over the years especially Judith Aqui and the staff at Canyon Springs Post Acute, as well as Regional Medical Center.
Visitation will be taking place on Friday April 19, 2019 at Darling & Fischer Garden Chapel, located at 471 E Santa Clara St, San Jose, CA 95112, from 11:00 am-5:00 pm, followed by a prayer vigil at 4:00pm. Burial to take place on Tuesday April 23, 2019 at 12:30 pm at Oak Hill Funeral Home and Memorial Park, located at 300 Curtner Ave, San Jose, CA 95125.
