In Loving Memory: Gil Silveira Nunes 05/12/1937 – 05/24/2023

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gil Silveira Nunes on 05/24/2023. He departed this world, leaving behind a legacy of love, compassion, and cherished memories. He will forever be missed by his family, friends, and all those who had the privilege of knowing him.

Gil was a remarkable individual whose presence illuminated the lives of many. He was born and raised on the island of Sao Jorge, where he developed a strong sense of community and an unwavering commitment to making a difference in the lives of others.

Throughout his life,  Gil exhibited an extraordinary passion for music. He dedicated countless hours to the Portuguese Band of San Jose, consistently demonstrating exceptional skill, creativity, and a genuine desire to help others. His contributions to the field were widely recognized and admired, making him a respected figure among colleagues and peers.

Beyond musical accomplishments, Gil was known for his warm and caring nature. He possessed a contagious smile that could brighten even the darkest of days, and his laughter was like music to the ears of those around him. He had a unique ability to make everyone feel welcome and valued, effortlessly forging deep and meaningful connections with people from all walks of life. Gil's love for his family was immeasurable. He was a devoted parent/spouse/sibling/grandparent, providing unwavering support, guidance, and unconditional love to his loved ones. His presence brought joy and laughter to family gatherings, and he cherished the time spent creating precious memories together.

Although Gil is no longer physically with us, his spirit will continue to shine brightly through the memories we hold dear. We will forever carry his love, wisdom, and compassion in our hearts.

As we mourn the loss of a beloved father/husband/grandpa/friend to everyone, let us also remember the joy, laughter, and love that Gil brought into our lives. May he rest in eternal peace, forever surrounded by the warmth and light of our love.

Gil leaves behind a loving wife of 62 years; Valquiria. 3 sons and a daughter; Frank, Lucia, John and Mike. 7 grandchildren; Kevin, Kayla, Tiago, Marco, Adea, Lukas and Andrea. 1 brother and 2 sisters; Lidia, Fatima and Joao. Also many cousins, nieces and nephews.
