Damasceno E. Leal, lived 83 years and died on June 25, 2017 of a massive heart attack. He was born on the island of Graciosa, Azores but lived the majority of his life in San Jose, CA. Son of Juventino and Eugenia Leal and brother to Ted Leal and Blandina Leal Dobrowski, predeceased by his other siblings Juventino, Ascelinda, Laura, Teodoro and Lino Leal. Survived by his devoted wife of 61 years, Maria Guiomar Leal, loving children, Alfonse (BettyJean) Paul (Karina), Nisa (Fred) and Dennis Leal and dearest granddaughters, Mirelle Leal Schwalbach, Taralyn and Kayla Leal. Damasceno was a master craftsman who created beauty in wood. It did not matter if he was building kitchen cabinets or fine bedroom furniture, his extraordinary skill level was always evident in the completed work. He was especially proud of the traditional Portuguese guitars and mandolins he enjoyed designing and creating for his family and friends. He was a hardworking and dedicated man that always found time to volunteer countless hours to his church and favorite non-profit community organizations. Damasceno will be forever missed by all who loved him and kindly remembered by any who walked along his path in life.
