Carole Joyce HolmesMarch 26, 1938 ~ December 21, 2018 (age 80)
Beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Carole passed away peacefully at the age of 80. Carole was born in San Jose and was raised in Milpitas by her parents Alfred and Josephine Carlo. Carole and her beloved brother James spent the majority of their early years in the family restaurant The Kozy Kitchen.
Carole attended Norte Dame High School before marrying her husband Mark. They moved to San Jose where they raised three daughters, Christie, Kelly and Leslie. An avid volunteer, Carole spent endless hours volunteering at Five Wounds School during the girls' elementary school years. Later, she became a regular volunteer with Loaves and Fishes where she volunteered in the kitchen and their fundraisers . It was a regular occurrence for Carole to be called upon to babysit one of her grandchildren who adored their Mema. Her later years were spent at Belmont Village, Sunnyvale where she was a beloved member of Neighborhood One. The family wants to thank the staff of Belmont Village for the wonderful care she was given for the last six years and to the staff of Vitas who ensured Carole was comfortable in her final months.
Preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Josephine Carlo and her husband Mark. Carole is survived by her daughters Christie (Stephen) Filios, Kelly Schlernitzauer, and Leslie Holmes; brother James (Carmen) Carlo; grandchildren Christopher and Stephanie Filios, Samantha Schlernitzauer, and Madison Holmes; and great-granddaughter Savannah Filios.
A memorial Mass will be held Saturday, December 29 at 10am at St. Simon Parish located at 1860 Grant Road, Los Altos.
