Arlene Lugeanbeal Jones, age 81, passed away peacefully in her home on the morning of June 10, 2020.
Born two months premature on September 4 in Peoria, Illinois, she and her twin sister Marlene weighed less than five pounds together. Arlene and her twin sister spent the first two months of their lives in an incubator, while their father made daily trips to the unwed mothers home for breast milk to sustain them. She met the love of her life, Robert Anthony Jones, while living in Las Cruces, New Mexico. They were married on July 2, 1966 in Friendswood, Texas when husband Bob worked at the Manned Space Center in Clear Lake City, Texas. In their life together with their two boys, she traveled extensively to more than 32 states, including Hawaii and Alaska visiting National Parks, family, and friends as often as possible. She saw a total eclipse of the Sun from the Caribbean, witnessed the devastation of Mount Saint Helens, slept in the Wilderness of Alaska, watched a sunrise over the Sea of Cortez from Bahia de los Angeles, and helped Bob place the first man on the Moon.
Arlene was wonderfully devoted to her husband, Bob, who lovingly cared for her in her declining years. She was a loving mother to her two sons, Robin (Annie) Jones, and James (Pam) Jones, and a caring grandmother to Nathaniel Jones. Additionally, she was a dearly loved Aunt to nieces Karlyn (Chet) Ramsey, Nancy (Sharon) Imhoff, Jill (Ron) Wilson, and Kellie Behrends, nephews Edward (Therese) Ordonez, Brent (Tina) Hamlin, Kevin (Julie) Imhoff, Jeff (Marresa) Lugeanbeal, Shawn (Dawn) Behrends, and numerous grand and great grand nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her mother Florence Pearl Lugeanbeal, father Charles Nelson Lugeanbeal, step mother Margaret Lugeanbeal, sister Norma Imhoff, and cousins Barbara and Richard Lugeanbeal. She is survived by her twin sister Marlene Parrish of Pahrump NV, brother Don (Sandy) Lugeanbeal of East Peoria IL, step-sister Sandy Behrends of Peoria, IL., cousins Lorraine Alborn of Anchorage AK, Gary (Karen) Lugeanbeal of Tupelo MS, and sister-in-law Anita (Edward) Ordonez of Albuquerque NM. She will be greatly missed by all those she knew and loved.
